Broadcaster Zoe Ball has completed the first leg of her BT sport Relief Challenge cycle ride to raise awareness of mental health issues in the wake of the death of her boyfriend Billy Yates.
The 47-year-old cycled from town of her birth Blackpool to the Widnes Vikings’ Select Security Stadium today (Monday, March 5) on route to Brighton, a feat which is expected to take five days.
Vikings players met her at Halebank and cycled the final part of the journey to the stadium, and the cycling club Runcorn Belles turned out to cheer her on.
Zoe sets off from Widnes in the morning on the next part of the 300-mile charity ride over five days.
The mum-of-two’s ‘Hardest Road Home’ journey will take her from her place of birth, Blackpool, to her hometown of Brighton.
