Come along to Widnes town centre to see the Christmas lights being switched on and enjoy some festive entertainment. The Widnes switch-on will be this Friday – 16 November.
There will be a roadshow from 3pm. with entertainment including local talent and, of course, Father Christmas.
Cast members from The Brindley pantomime, Beauty and The Beast – Rebecca Lake (Belle) and Andrew Curphey (French Franc) – will be there from 5pm-6pm on both nights.
There will also be fairground rides and stalls.
Halton Borough Council has also planned festive attractions for the town centres. On Saturday 8 December in Runcorn town centre there will be music and craft workshops from 2pm, reindeer, and a lantern parade starting from The Brindley at around 4pm.
You can see the reindeer at the Widnes town centre event on Saturday 15 December, starting at 12 noon.
Children can once again visit Santa at Widnes Market’s free Grotto every Saturday in December and on Sunday 23 December.
BBC Radio Merseyside will be bringing their Christmas Toy Appeal Bus to the Market on Saturday 1 December, from 9.30am, collecting toys for local children.
Cllr Ron Hignett, the Council’s portfolio holder for town centres, says: “It’s always great to see the town centres getting ready for Christmas so I hope people come along and enjoy the start of the festivities.”
