Following Saturday’s incident on the M62 roundabout on the slip road of the M62 it has now been confirmed that 53 year old John Kinsella of Rainhill was shot dead by a gunman believed to be riding a mountain bike. The gunman is said to have been wearing a high vis jacket.
Appealing for information about Saturday’s shooting, Detective Superintendent Lee Turner said:
“We’re continuing to appeal to any member of the public or driver that used that slip road on Saturday morning between 6.30am to 7.30am, who may have dash cam footage or remembers seeing someone acting suspiciously to get in contact by calling our Major Crime Unit on: 0151 777 8618.
“The offender is reported to have been around 6ft tall, of slim build and wearing dark clothing and a high vis jacket”
“He is also believed to have been riding a mountain bike”.
“If you saw someone matching this description around the time or area of the incident, please get in touch. “Alternatively, if you have any other information that you believe could help with our investigations, please get in contact on 101 or in an emergency, call 999.”
The Preaa Association reports Mr Kinsella was linked to Liverpool’s crime world and stopped a gangster terrorising footballer Steven Gerrard. In 2006 Kinsella was jailed for his part in a £40,000 robbery in Lincolnshire.
Following this he went on the run but was captured in Amsterdam in 2009 and began a 10-year jail term in Lincoln prison. During his trial, Kinsella’s team told how he had helped stop a gangster terrorising Liverpool Legend Steven Gerrard.
The court was told Kinsella was asked by Gerrard’s father to intervene after he said his son was being terrorised by the gangster known in the underworld as “Psycho” with Gerrard senior expressing his thanks for Kinsella’s support.
