POLICE are hunting a gunman who used a mountain bike as a getaway vehicle after shooting a 53-year-old man dead in an area of woodland near Rainhill.
Detectives believe the attack on Saturday morning was targeted and are appealing for witnesses. The gunman was believed to be wearing a high visibility jacked.
The Liverpool-bound M62 slip road near the Rainhill Stoops roundabout remained closed today (Tuesday, May 8) following the incident
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “If you saw something/someone or have any dash cam footage from between 6.30-7.30am, we urge you to contact our Major Crime Unit on: 0151 777 8618 quoting ref: 225 of 5/5/18 who will assist you in submitting the footage.
