PEOPLE wanting learn how to update their outfits, create a whole new wardrobe, or even pursue a career in fashion are being advised to sign up for sewing course run by Halton Borough Council.
Three different 10-week courses in sewing skills start this week, but there’s still time to enrol, and there’s something for all levels.
Pattern cutting: Mondays, 12.30pm -2.30pm. On this course you will develop figure knowledge and measurements, produce a draft for a skirt, bodice and sleeves and produce different styles relevant to figure shapes.
Recycle your clothes: Fridays, 12.30pm – 2.30pm. This includes making decorations for clothes, i.e. flowers, bows and patches, reshape clothes to make them fit, dress up shoes and bags, and use techniques such as gathers, pleats and applique.
Advanced sewing: Tuesdays, 6.30pm – 8.30pm. This is ideal progression for those who have completed a sewing course or already sew as a hobby and can use a machine. It’s an opportunity to work at a higher level on outdoor or evening wear.
Courses are held at Kingsway Learning Centre, Widnes, and each costs £60, but fee remission does apply.
