Today, Family Arts Campaign announced the shortlist of arts events, organisations and destinations that have delighted families, in their Fantastic for Families Awards 2020.

At a time when Covid-19 has imposed significant limitations on the arts and cultural sector, the Fantastic for Families Awards celebrate the wealth of outstanding creative events and spaces for families across the UK. These organisations are recognised for the outstanding experiences they provided for families.

Get it Loud in Libraries’ all ages live music event featuring indie pop singer-songwriter, Liz Lawrence at Widnes Library is one of 13 shortlisted events in the ‘Best Family Event’ category.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Libraries, Cllr Phil Harris, said “This award recognises the very best family events of the past year with genuine appeal and suitability for different age groups attending or participating together. It is a credit to the staff at Halton Libraries they have been shortlisted.”

Get it Loud in Libraries’ Creative Director, Stewart Parsons said that Get It Loud In Libraries was delighted to be shortlisted for the Fantastic For Families ‘Best Family Event’ Award for the Liz Lawrence matinee show in Widnes Library.

He said: “It was a great partnership effort, funded by Arts Council England, Youth Music and Paul Hamlyn Foundation, that drew a truly intergenerational audience for a brilliant Sunday afternoon gig.””

Liz Lawrence, supported by local artist, Katie Mac, performed to a multi-generational audience, from babes in arms to grandparents.

The audience enjoyed hearing songs from Liz Lawrence’s latest release, ‘Pity Party’ including None Of My Friends and Navigator in the intimate space, surrounded by bookshelves.

In feedback collected by the organisation, attendees commented, “It was an amazing experience and I wish I could do it all again, loved it and so did my children” and “Great atmosphere and good to see plenty of kids there.”

All organisations will now have their Fantastic for Families Awards nominations reviewed by a panel of expert judges from the creative sector, with winners being announced on 9 September 2020.

Since 2005, Get it Loud in Libraries has been programming high quality, live music events in libraries in towns and cities throughout the UK. They consistently demonstrate a unique talent for identifying new and emerging artists on the cusp of breaking through to the mainstream.
