Halton Borough Council is disappointed to announce that the annual fireworks display will not take place this November.
As Halton’s Covid-19 rates remain high, the Council has had to re-prioritise resources as part of its continuing response to the pandemic.
However, it is hoped that this popular event will return next year.
On a positive note, the award-winning Brindley Theatre will reopen on 27 September with a full programme of events.
Cllr Paul Nolan, Executive Board member for Culture, says: “While I am sorry that the fireworks event will not be going ahead, I’m delighted to be able to announce the reopening of the Brindley after so long. It is a much-loved venue and has been sorely missed by theatre-goers.
“The theatre has been closed since March 2020 and has been playing an important role in supporting the roll-out of the vaccination programme.
“The team there have been working really hard to put arrangements in place that will allow shows to now take place.”
Also there are plenty of highlights still to come as part of the Celebrate Halton Borough of Culture year, including:
- Museum of the Moon – a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Measuring six metres in diameter, the moon features a detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon’s surface.
- More live music and street theatre over the coming weekends.
- Light! End the year on a high with a visit to a magical woodland light trail in the grounds of Norton Priory.
