Next month we have four different elections taking place across the Liverpool City Region, covering Local elections, Mayor of Liverpool, Combined Authority Mayor and the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Polling stations will still be operational between 7 am and 10pm, but to make the experience safer for you and the staff working on the day, things will look a little different to previous years.
Changes will include
- Protective screens
- Social distancing
- The use of face coverings, unless you are exempt, and
- An increased cleaning regime.
All these changes may mean you have to wait a little longer, so we ask voters to be patient with staff and each other.
We recognise some of you may still not feel comfortable attending a polling station in person, so the safest and easiest way to vote on May 6th is to apply for a postal vote.
How to register
If you still need to register to vote or change your name or address, you can do it online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
It only takes a few minutes, and make sure you have your National Insurance number to hand. The deadline for registering to vote in this year’s elections is 11.59 pm on Monday 19 April.
Applying for a postal vote
Polling cards have started to arrive; however, you are still able to apply for a postal vote up until 5 p.m. on Tuesday 20 April.
You can register for a postal vote by downloading a form from The Electoral Commission website and return it to your local elections office.
