Detectives are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Widnes.
At around 4.15pm on Wednesday 25 August, a 16-year-old girl was sat with her friend in a wooded area of Bowers Brook near to Bell View when an unknown man approached her and grabbed her handbag.
The girl attempted to keep hold of her bag but was pushed before the offender fled the scene towards the Minton Way area. The victim followed behind and the man then threw the bag back towards her.
He is described as white, aged in his late teens to early 20s, around 5’10” of slim build, broad shoulders with blonde hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a grey hooded jacket.
Now officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
Detective Constable Nicola Dolan said: “This incident left the victim with minor injuries as she bravely fought to keep her belongings.
“However the consequences of this incident could have been a lot worse.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Bowers Brook area around the time of the incident and may have seen something that didn’t look quite right.
“The same goes to anyone who may have captured CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage of the offender.”
