In the coming days some local residents will receive an amended Council Tax bill.
The amended bill has been created because Halton Borough Council has been allocated some funding from central Government to help those on Local Council Tax Support.
The Government announced in the Budget on 11 March details of a Hardship Fund, and the Halton Borough Council allocation means that all working-age Local Council Tax Support (LCTS) claimants in 2020-21 will receive a further discount depending upon circumstances.
If anyone receives an amended Council Tax bill and looks for the ‘Covid 19 Hardship Payment’, this is the reduction applicable to the bill for that household.
The reduction will be made through the use of powers under section 13A(1)(c) of the Local Government Finance Act 1992.
