Three arrested as part of joint County Lines operation

Officers from Merseyside Police, Cheshire Police and North Wales Police arrested three men as part of a joint investigation into County Lines drug supply yesterday (Monday 26 April).

This was part of the ongoing Project Medusa, a Merseyside-led initiative set up to tackle County Lines drug dealing and child criminal exploitation.

At around 11pm last night, officers stopped a blue Hyundai on Clifton Street, Sutton Weaver, as part of a pre-planned operation.

Officers also recovered a quantity suspected cannabis which was thrown from the vehicle.

Three men, two aged 52 and 20 from Rhyl, and one aged 19 from Roby have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class B drugs (cannabis). The 52-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving.

They have been taken to a police station on Merseyside where they will be questioned by officers.

Detective Inspector Gary Stratton said: “Project Medusa works across force boundaries and with other teams within Merseyside Police to ensure we make arrests and take potential offenders off our streets.

“County Lines drug dealing blights communities and the lives of those taking drugs and those who are often coerced into dealing them on behalf of organised crime groups.

“Yesterday’s arrests are just one example of the work we carry out, day in, day out to target those involved in County Lines and bring them to justice.”
