Ever wondered how social care is arranged for adults in our community who need additional support?

Forming partnerships to support decisions, assessing needs and allocateing funding and maintaining their independence are all part of day-to-day activity for Halton Borough Council’s Adult Social Care Services.

Take a look at Halton Borough Council’s latest Adult Social Care Annual Report, online now at
https://www3.halton.gov.uk/Pages/councildemocracy/Adult-Social-Care_policy.aspx, for an insight into some of the wide range of activity covered by the Local Authority.

More than 4,400 adults across the borough benefited from support in 2019/20, including 1,328 occupational assessments alone.

The report examines the contracting arrangements made with 24 care homes in the borough, six supported living settings, and provision for domiciliary care, homelessness and domestic violence.

Halton Borough Council’s Executive Board Member for Social Care. Cllr Tom McInerney, said: “Our vision is to improve the health and wellbeing of Halton people so they live longer, healthier and happier lives.

“We continue to work within a challenging financial environment with ongoing reductions in the allocation of funding to the council.”

Each year the Council produces a report to look back at what the Adult Social Care service has done in the previous year to provide care and support for some of the most vulnerable members of our local community.

It is an opportunity to look at how the Council has performed, what it has done well and where it can improve.

The 2019/20 report focuses on three key areas of adult social care and shines a spotlight on some of the services.

The report features performance figures including the results of the annual survey of service users..

This shows a consistent satisfaction rate with social-care related quality of life for the past three years running and a rise in feelings of safety and security for those who use services.

Halton Borough Council’s Director of Adult Social Service, Sue Wallace-Bonner, said: “This represents a good reflection mechanism to look how far we’ve come.

“Since the period covered in the report our work has been a little different, with a clear focus on the pandemic.

“This is a tribute to hard work put in by council staff on a daily basis to support our community is admirable.”
