With all the Christmas festivities coming to an end, the month of January can often be very dull and boring, there’s no denying that, but there’s no need to give in as defeat!
It’s a proven fact that spending time with the family doing activities and being outdoors is a great way to boost happiness levels. What better way to get rid of those January blues than to get out and about with your loved ones?
Here are some ideas for great family days out in Widnes and surrounding areas…

This interactive science centre and museum is all about chemistry and the history of the chemical industry. It’s all about making science more interesting and engaging for children, it might even teach the adults a thing or two as well! The museum also holds weekend workshops and interactive shows for all the family, called ‘Egyptian science ‘and ‘Marvellous Materials’.

Norton priory is a historic site in Runcorn full of old archaeological ruins and picturesque gardens. it only opened last summer but is a great place to go and explore. Currently closed for the winter months, it is due to open again on march 1st.

Liverpool offers a whole host of museums which are both educational and fun. There’s The International Slavery Museum, the Museum of Liverpool, The Walker Art Gallery, The World Museum and the Merseyside Maritime museums all of which are free of cost. With so many to choose from you you’ll never be bored.
Gulliver’s World is just under a half an hour drive away from Widnes, located in Warrington and is the nearest theme park. The day out is designed for families with the rides all aimed at children between the ages of 3-13, so don’t expect anything too scary and daunting, just enjoy!
